Mrs. Janet (Sheriff) Brock, age 74, of Martin, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 10, 1944, in Seneca, SC, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Jeanette (Outz) Sheriff. She was a graduate of Stephens County High School, where she excelled in basketball. She was particularly proud of having scored 60 points in one game. After high school she was trained to be a lab technician at Anderson Hospital and retired from Toccoa Clinic, where she worked with Dr. Williams. Mrs. Brock was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband: Winfred Brock; son and daughter-in-law: Tim and Cathie Brock; sister: Ann Harris; and grandchildren: Savannah, Dylan, and Ava Brock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Calvin Sheriff.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Paul Jameson officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
