Mrs. Janet Brown Fleming, 65, of Canon, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, Athens GA.

Born on March 4, 1958 in Elberton GA, she was the daughter of the late John William "Billy" Brown and Marjorie Jo Hutto Brown.

Mrs. Fleming was employed by the City of Hartwell for 43 years serving in various positions and had served as City Clerk at her retirement.  She was a faithful member of the Bethesda Methodist Church of Hartwell, where she was Church Treasurer, served on various other committees and was a former choir member, Sunday school teacher and youth leader.  She loved spending time with her kids and especially her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband: Steve L. Fleming; her children: Josh Fleming (Maria) of Canon and Jarred Fleming (Kayla) of Hartwell and Julie Wilson (Carloyn) of Canon; a brother: Rev. Doug Brown (Sharon) of Hartwell; two sisters: Libby Hilley (Keith) and DiAnne Stone (Mark) all of Canon; a sister-in-law: Connie M. Brown of Hartwell; seven grandchildren: Josee Fleming, Christian Fleming, Camryn Fleming, Payton Fleming, Graeson Fleming, Millie Wilson and Harlan Wilson also survive.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Janet Fleming will be Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Bryce Behnke officiating.  Burial will be in the Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery.
