Mrs. Janice Atkinson Johnson, 69, of Bethany-Bowersville Road, Canon, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.

Born in Royston GA on December 17, 1952, she was the daughter of the late James Harvey "Bill" Atkinson and Hettie Lou Browning Atkinson.Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband: Lynn Johnson; a son: Jamie Johnson (Mollie); a daughter: Joanie Haley (Joseph) all of Canon; two sisters: Joan Miller (Gary) of Cartersville GA and Jimmie Certain (Mike) of Lavonia; a brother-in-law: Clinton Bond of Murfreesboro TN; seven grandchildren: Madison York (Eli), Jodie Haley, Joshua Haley, Jordan Haley, Jessie Grizzle (Catherine), Nikki Neal (Jason) and Kaitlyn Justice (Jeremy) and eight great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Janie Bond.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Johnson will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Luther Thomason and Rev. Jerry Durham officiating.Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
