Mrs. Janie Marie (Siceloff) Hamby, of Lavonia, began experiencing God's Promise when she passed away peacefully in the evening hours of Thursday December 18th, 2025.
Janie was born in Galax, Virginia, and was one of four daughters raised by James and Marie (Nichols) Siceloff. In 1963, Mrs. Hamby graduated with honors from Elbert County High School and two years later, married her husband W. Donald Hamby. Together, Janie and Donald worked to build a family and a legacy of entrepreneurship.
In 1967, Mrs. Hamby gave birth to her only son, Steven Hamby. Mrs. Hamby went on to balance the rewarding responsibilities of motherhood with trailblazing success in business. Chief among her business accomplishments was Janie's founding and managing of Hamby Realty and Construction, where she used her training from the University of Georgia School of Real Estate to provide excellent service to families in her community.
Beyond her personal success as a mother and businesswoman, Janie Hamby was a tireless community servant. She was a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church and served as a choir member, Girls in Action program volunteer, and Sunday School Teacher.
