IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jay
Howard
February 14, 1969 – July 21, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Jay Howard, a beloved husband, brother, friend, and son who departed from us on July 21, 2023, at the age of 54. Surrounded by his devoted wife, Stephanie, and loving family, Jay peacefully passed away at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born on February 14, 1969, in Decatur, GA, Jay was the cherished son of Ed and Vivian Howard. With a steadfast passion for learning, he pursued an accounting degree from North Georgia College, and over the course of two decades, he dedicated his life to excelling in the fields of public and Governmental accounting and financial management. His commitment to his most recent role as Controller for Bison showcased his unwavering dedication and expertise.
Jay and Stephanie found tranquility and contentment in Hartwell, Georgia, a place they called home for the last year. Embracing the beauty of life, Jay was not only a member of the Cateechee Golf Club but also found joy in mastering the art of grilling.
His memory will forever be treasured by those he leaves behind, including his parents Ed and Vivian Howard of Jasper GA, his cherished wife, Stephanie Howard, his dear sister, Dori Howard of Loganville, GA, and beloved brother, Alan Howard of Loganville, GA. Additionally, he will be deeply missed by his caring mother-in-law, Betty J. Pugh of Wilmer, AL, and adored sister-in-law, Kimberly Nixon (Mike) of Flowood, MS. Jay's presence touched the lives of four nieces: Sarah Gilliam (Zack), Megan Howard, Madeline Nixon, and Makayla Nixon, as well as two nephews, Josh Shows and Mason Smith. Jay was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Willis Pugh, whose memory he now joins in eternal rest.
A Celebration of Life service, honoring the remarkable life of Jay Howard, will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Ballroom of Cateechee Golf Club—a place Jay held dear to his heart.
In recognition of Jay's charitable spirit, and to continue the legacy of compassion he exemplified, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to North Georgia College.
During these difficult times, we take solace in the cherished memories and lasting impact Jay had on each of us. He will forever remain in our hearts, a guiding light to remember, love, and honor.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell have been entrusted with the arrangements for this celebration of Jay's life.
May his soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the love and memories he gifted us during his time among us.
