Mrs. Mary Imogene "Jean" Kay Campbell, 88, of Royston, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her home.
Born on September 30, 1934 in Dewy Rose, GA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Lewis Kay Sr. and Naomi Elizabeth Welborn Kay. Mrs. Campbell was a lunch room worker at the Hart County Middle School, and was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her six sons: Larry Campbell of Royston, Donald Campbell (Libby) of Canon, Mike Campbell of Canon, Gary Campbell (Chyrel) of Royston, David Campbell of Royston, and John Campbell (Stephanie) of Royston; two sisters: Nellie Mae Hembree and Shirley Martin, both of Hartwell: five grandchildren: Lee Campbell, Chris Campbell (Destiney), Amanda Lack, Tamra Lack, Hunter Partain; and six great nieces & nephews; and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Campbell is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Frank Lee Campbell; daughter: Ann Elizabeth Campbell; four brothers: Rev. Luther Kay, James Kay, Edgar "Ed" Kay, and Floyd Lewis Kay, Jr; and three sisters: Katherine Fleming, Leila Vaughn, and Nancy Thompson.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Holly Spring Baptist Church. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Campbell will be Monday, September 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
