Mrs. Ella Jean Smith Harmon, 72, of Hartwell, GA wife of Thompson Harmon passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at her home after an extended illness with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Harmon was born April 11, 1942 in Franklin County, GA to the late J.T. Smith and Ella Mae Vickery Smith.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband: Thompson; sons: Christopher D. and Timothy M. Wilson; a daughter: Rhonda Wilson O'Barr;one sister: Vivian (Douglas) Toney; grandchildren: Tori Welborn, Megan and husband Michael Fleeman, also, Kandice Wilson, who was reared in the home and her fiancé, Cain Harper; great-grandchildren Cade Welborn, Brantli Moore, Ford and Blakely Fleeman and step great-grandchildren: Sierra Fleeman all from Hartwell, GA; one sister-in-law: Peggy Smith of Lithia Springs, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Thomas (Tommy) Smith and a nephew Shawn Toney.
She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
For many years she was a cosmetologist in Anderson, SC and in Hartwell, GA. After graduating from Anderson School of Cosmetology she then retired to be a full time mother and homemaker to her children and grandchildren which were the loves of her life.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 2:00 pm, at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Strickland Funeral Home on April 23, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
