Mrs. Gilda Jean Williams Jones, 72, of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at TerraBella Epps Bridge Retirement Community in Athens, GA.

Born on September 6, 1950 in Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of the late Larston Williams and Nora Edna Dotson Williams. Mrs. Jones graduated from Gaston College with a Bachelor's in Nursing and worked as a RN for 30 years in the ICU, and she retired as an infection control nurse from Stephens County Hospital. She was a former member of The Way Church.

She is survived by her son: Anthony Ray Maxwell of Hartwell; daughter: Traci Melissa Ann Bryant (Jason) of Royston; six grandchildren: Faith MaKenzi Bryant, Kayli Grace Bryant, McKinley Rose Bryant, Tiffany Nicole Hovis, Alex Maxwell and Dylan Maxwell and one brother: Donnie Williams of Kings Mountain, NC, also survives. Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents; husband: E. Ralph Jones; and one grandchild: Matthew Ray Maxwell.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

A service celebrating Mrs. Jean Jones' life will be held Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Lee Smith and Rev. Don Williams officiating. It was her wishes to be cremated following the service.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
