Eugenia (Jean) Boothe Peacock died February 10th 2017 in San Antonio, TX at age 88. Born on June 22nd 1928 in Waycross GA, Jean grew up in Jacksonville, FL graduating from Andrew Jackson High School in 1946. She and her husband Russell Peacock were married July 14th 1951 and were together over 60 years, raising two sons, first in Jacksonville and then in Cherry Hill, NJ. When Russell retired from Sun Oil Company they moved to Lake Hartwell, where they built their dream home, designed by their son Keith, and lived there until Russell's death in 2010. Over the last five years Jean lived at Morningside Ministries in Boerne, TX, but she would always tell you her home was Hartwell, Georgia.
Jean started her career working at the corner drugstore as a teenager, later working as a model and over the years worked for PPG Industries, Sun Oil, Central Dynamics, and finally Beck Middle School where she was the administrative assistant to the Principal for the last 16 years of her working career.
Although she lived through the Great Depression, for 88 years she was an optimist, always in service to others, where her small acts of kindness and her special brand of southern charm and sweetness brightened the rooms she entered and touched the hearts of the people she met.
Jean was a lifetime member of the Madora Garden Club in Hartwell, serving as the President in 2005. She was keenly interested in genealogy, researching both the Peacock and Boothe family histories. Her home was always open as she enjoyed being with family and friends, cooking, playing cards and later on watching the birds and enjoying the lake. That is when she shined.
She found grace reading scripture with the Bible Study group at Morningside and she maintained her competitive spirit at the Bingo table on Tuesdays and Saturdays. She produced her own greeting cards and delivered them liberally, owning a well-used copy of' Mac for Dummies'.
Jean Peacock is predeceased by her husband, Russell Peacock and her sister Patricia Bechard. She is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife, Virginia (Ginny) of San Antonio, TX, son Keith and his wife, Christine of Hainesport, New Jersey. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Wesley and his wife Ellie of Boston, MA, Nicholas of Santa Clara, CA, Elyse and Erin of San Antonio, TX, Kelly and Caitlin of Hainesport, NJ.
Jean was eternally grateful to Dr. James Willerson and his team at Texas Heart Institute for extending her life.
