Mrs. Jean Chappelear Scott, age 64, of Lavonia, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Piedmont Healthcare of Atlanta.
Born January 6, 1946 in Lavonia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Ray and Mildred Grubbs Chappelear. Mrs. Scott retired as a waitress at Echo Restaurant in Carnesville and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son: Ronnie Edwin Scott; three brothers: Kenneth Chappelear, Bobby Chappelear, & McRoss Chappelear; and a sister: Catherine Chappelear
She is survived by daughter & son-in-law: Kim & Michael Floyd; twin sister: Jane King; sisters: Arthurlene Ethridge, Bonnie Elliott, Debbie Johnson, & Rebecca Dowis; brothers: Dale Chappelear & Mike Chappelear; six grandchildren: McKenzie, Madison, & Macie Floyd, Jonathan Carter, and Chelsea, & Caroline Scott; and a great-grandchild: Dallas Carter.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger & Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Ethridge, Tim Elliott, Randy Chappelear, Kendall Chappelear, Rusty Chappelear, Chris Chappelear, Marty Chappelear, and Russell King.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.At other hours the family will be at the home of Jane King 1273 Beasley Road in Lavonia. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Lavonia First Baptist Church Building Fund.
