Mrs. Jeanette Allred Tant, 82, of Chandlers Ferry Road, Hartwell, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospice House, Bogart GA.
Born on July 13, 1932 in Decatur GA, she was the daughter of Clarence A. Allred and Annie Kate Meers Allred.She was the eldest of four children: James C. Allred, Joyce Allred Hilliard and Jerry Allred.A good part of her early childhood was spent at her grandmother "Anna Meers Dairy" in Decatur.
Mrs. Tant was married to Bernard Franklin Tant Jr. in Atlanta.They had three children: Bernard Franklin Tant III "Biff" of Athens, Stephen Mark Tant of Hartwell and Tracey Tant Gettys of Hartwell; one son-in-law: Donnie Gettys of Hartwell and one-daughter-in-law: Sherry Tant of Athens.There four grandchildren: Nichole Tant of West Bend WI, Brian Tant, Katy Tant and Paris Tant all of Hartwell.
Mrs. Tant loved gardening, antiques and the beauty and calm of the woodlands and lake where she lived.Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Jasper GA, where she will be buried alongside her grandmother & grandfather (on her father's side) and many other Allred relatives, at a little country church in the woods of Pickens Co. GA.
