Mrs. Virginia "Jennie" Vollrath, 85, of 214 Smith Street, Hartwell, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 17, 2006.
Born April 18, 1921 in Darlington, SC, she was a daughter of the late James and Minnie Howell Gardner.She was a member of Hartwell United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Live Wire Sunday School Class and past president of the UDC.Mrs. Vollrath retired from Hart County Schools as a paraprofessional after twenty years of service and was a past member of Nancy Hart OES.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dewey Vollrath of the home; a son, Harvey Vollrath of Hartwell; a daughter, Suzanne Keogh of Clemson, SC; a sister, Irene Skipper of Darlington, SC; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lila Garland.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2006 at the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Winn and Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.Burial will follow in Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Saturday evening.The family is at the home.
