Mr. Jerome Matthew Davis, age 73, of 2671 Rock Springs Rd., Lavonia, GA., died Friday, March 21, 2008 at his home.

Born July 17, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late James Wolling Davis and Bernice Faye Cox Davis.He was a retired Police Lieutenant from DeKalb County where he started the Helicopter Unit.He was a member of NRA, FOP of DeKalb County and the Peace Officers Association.He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

His survivors include:Wife, Carole Holland Davis of the home; Son, Captain Edward Bankston and his wife Amanda of Ellijay; Daughters, Shari Davis of Nashville, TN, Ami Williams and her husband Alan of Grayson, GA and Julie Lee and her husband Andy of Jefferson, GA; Sister, Mary Ellen Wright of Chamblee; Two brother in laws, Benny Holland and Bill Holland; Sister in law, Ginger Holland; Seven grandchildren, Benjamin Lee, Carolynn Lee, Bethany Grace Williams, Sidney Bankston, Jonathan Williams, Naomi Williams and Eli Bankston; Eighth grandchild expected in September; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday March 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel of Hartwell.Rev. Tom Fish will officiate.
