Mr. Jeremiah "Jerry" Blackwell, 76, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home.
Born June 19, 1940, in Westminster, SC, he was the son of the late Joseph Lusty Blackwell and Robbie Helen (Head) Blackwell. He was a farm worker prior to retirement. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his sons: Chris Blackwell and Greg Blackwell & his girlfriend, Tina; sisters: Shirley Blackwell, Elsie Dickert, Mary Smith, and Lucille Sorrells; and brother: Edward Blackwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Gatha Mae (Wood) Blackwell; sisters: Betty Moore, Edna Craig, and Louise Leroy; and brothers: Pete Blackwell, Junior Blackwell, and Johnny Blackwell.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. John Forbes officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City ~ Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
