Mr. Jerry Warren Mize, 80, of the Bio community, Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Born on August 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Warren L. Mize and Willie Doris McGarity Mize.  Mr. Mize was retired from Duke Power Company, Oconee Nuclear Power Plant as a Construction and Maintenance Supervisor, with 33 years of service. He was also a member of the Bethesda Methodist Church, Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690, Scottish Rite Shriner, and was a former member of the Hartwell Bass Club. Jerry also loved hunting, fishing, and cattle ranching. Jerry loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also loved watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Survivors include his wife: Lynda Shirley Mize of Hartwell; son: Russ Mize (Suzanne) of Canon; daughter: Jennifer M. Bailey (Heath) of Acworth, GA; and four grandchildren: Chantz Mize, Rachel Mize, Claire Bailey, and Morgan Bailey. Mr. Mize is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Ronald Mize, and one sister: Brenda M. Vickery.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Mize will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Winfred Pitts officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
