Mr. Jerry Ronnie Owens, 75, of 96 Bannister Drive, Hartwell, died peacefully Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 28, 1937 in Lavonia, GA, he was the son of the late Alfred Owens and Eula Alewine Owens.He was a retired forklift operator for Monroe Auto Equipment Company for 40 years and a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Michael Owens of Hartwell and Jeffrey Owens of Anderson, SC.; two half sisters: Becky Buckheister of Seneca, SC, and Jane Hartwig of St. Augustine, FL.; one grandchild, Chassidy Owens.Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shelby J. Owens; and one sister, Ann Allen.

Funeral services will be Sunday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m. at Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Fred Greenway and Rev Tommy Cleveland officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night.The family is at the home.
