Mr. Jerry Wayne Shaw, 67, of Fred King Road, Hartwell, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA.

Born on August 6, 1946, in Hartwell, GA he was the son of the late Joseph H. Shaw and Elizabeth Jones Shaw.He was owner and operator of Shaw's Lawn Barn. He was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690, Georgia Peace Officer Association, life time member of the VFW where he was the former commander and member of the American Legion Post 109.He was retired from the Hart County Sheriff's department serving for 19 years.He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in Vietnam War.

Survivors include: his wife: Barbara G. Shaw; one sister: Shirley Vickery of Hartwell and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel of Hartwell with Mr. Leslie Boles officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
