Jerry E Thomas (January 24, 1934 - August 7, 2019).Jerry E Thomas, son of Levis Thomas and Geraldine Randall Thomas, was born in Franklin County Georgia, where he spent his early years in Martin with his brother, Larry, and sister, Jean.He would later return to spend many of his retired years in Martin on their beloved Thomas farm and homestead on Pleasant Hill Circle.Mr. Thomas served in the United States Army in Korea from 1954-1956.He married Corrie Sue Thompson on November 26, 1958 and they remained devoted through more than 60 years. After completing his Bachelor's degree with the University of Georgia, he and his wife moved to Valdosta, Georgia to work with Farm Credit Service and then on to Alachua, Florida, where he completed 33 years, proudly serving as the president of the Alachua branch.He loved to golf with his friends, traditional country living, and to spend time with his family.He passed away in his sleep in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 85. He is survived by his spouse, his three sons, Jerry, Dave, and Scott and their families.A small memorial ceremony will be held in Jacksonville on Saturday, August 10, 2019.Mr. Thomas will then be interred in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery in Martin, Georgia alongside his family ancestors in a graveside service at 11:00 am on Monday, August 12, 2019.
