Mrs. Jessie Louise Smith Britt, 83, of 291 Old Mill Road, Hartwell, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Hart Care Center.

Born on October 17, 1927 in Lincolnton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Clark Smith, Sr. and Louise Bussey Smith.She was a homemaker, a member of Sardis Baptist Church, and a former Red Cross volunteer.

She is survived by her son: Thomas "Tommy" McKay Britt of Mableton, GA; two daughters: Terri B. Walent of Leesburg, GA, and Lee B. White of Hartwell; one sister: Mary "Bluckey" McIntosh of Lincolnton, GA; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Alonzo McKay Britt; two brothers: Reuben Clark Smith, Jr. and John Bussey Smith; three sisters: Martha Boyd, Bobbie Ann Hanberry, and Nancy S. Denison.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Amspaugh and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
