James Alex "Jim" Mecklenburg, Jr., age 64, of Lavonia, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Born December 26, 1958, in Milwaukee, WI, he was the son of the late James Alex Mecklenburg, Sr. and Lois Maurer Mecklenburg. He was a machinist for V and L Tool Company. Jim will be remembered for his love of dirt track racing, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife: Sheryl Jean "Sheri" Landers Mecklenburg; sons: Brett Groshek and Roy Groshek & wife Sabrina; grandchildren: Anna Oswald & Evan Oswald.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Scott Collett officiating. Burial will follow in Lavonia City-Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.

The family invites friends and family to join following the graveside at the Lavonia VFW for a celebration of life fellowship.
