Mrs. Jimmie Ruth Childs Floyd, age 91, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at her home following an extended illness.
Born September 3, 1930, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Claud & Nettie (Brock) Childs. She retired as a seamstress from Stone Manufacturing. Mrs. Floyd was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express appreciation for special friends and caregivers: Doris Sapp, Cathy Smith, and Nita Burdette, as well as Amedisys Hospice's Priscilla, Emily, Becky, and Cliff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Aaron Grady Floyd; sisters: Sue Hill and Willene Self; and brothers: Dan Childs, Lloyd Childs, Ray Childs, Robert Childs, Roscoe Childs, and Walter Childs.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law: Jeff & Lucy Floyd of Lavonia; grandchildren: Nick & Kristen Floyd of League City, TX, Chelsea & Tyler Hill of Lavonia, and Caitlin & Alex Kraeling of Maysville; and great-grandchildren: Graeme Floyd, Caroline Hill, Mollie Kraeling, and Rhett Kraeling.
The graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Tommy Childress officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorial donations may be made to Poplar Spring Baptist Church, Homebound Ministry, 67 Poplar Springs Church Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
