Mr. Jimmy Douglas Barrett, Sr., age 69, of Baldwin, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at his home.
Born February 26, 1945, in Commerce, he was the son of the late Grady & Mattie (Parr) Barrett. He was co-owner and operator of Side Street Deli. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of New Vision Worship Center.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Michael Menard; brother: Donnie Barrett; and sisters: Mildred Philyaw and Joyce Thompson.
He is survived by his wife: Beth Oliver Barrett; children: Bo & Karen Barrett, Shane & Amy Barrett, Angie & Mark Lowery, Amanda & Kevin Ivester, Michelle & Jonathan Smith and Chris Barrett; grandchildren: Matthew Barrett, Nicole Barrett, Mercedes Weaver, Greg Childers, Austin Barrett, Blake Lowery, Dylan Barrett, Chris Barrett, Madison Franklin, Anna-Paige Barrett, Emma Barrett, Ethan Lowery, Katie Ivester, Holden Smith and Harper Smith; five great grandchildren; brothers: James & Barbara Barrett, Johnny & Drucilla Barrett, Bobby & Brenda Barrett, Billy Joe & Sandra Barrett, Jerry & Joyce Barrett, Terry & Judy Barrett and Steve & Pam Barrett; sister: Betty & Jerry Williamson; father & mother-in-law: Jim & Barbara Oliver; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at New Vision Worship Center with Rev. Scott Ledbetter, Rev. Mickey Umbehant, and Rev. Steve Powers officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends at New Vision Worship Center Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.
