Mr. James J. "Jimmy" Blackmon, 73, of Blackmon Road, Canon, died Friday, August 29, 2014 at his home.

Born on June 19, 1941 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late James A. Blackmon and Elsie Holmes Blackmon.Mr. Blackmon was a retired supervisor for BASF Corporation, member of the Bowersville Masonic Lodge # 595 and a member of the Old Canon Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Janie Sanders Blackmon; a son: Jay Blackmon & Holly of Canon; four daughters: Jamie Boyer & Mike of Royston, Rhonda Temples, Pam Scott & Pete and Terri Brown all of Canon; two brothers: Joel Blackmon and Jackie Blackmon both of Canon; eleven grandchildren and a great grandchild also survives.Mr. Blackmon was preceded in death by his parents and a son: Randall Schultz.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the service.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson SC 29621.
