Obituary

Mr. James N. "Jimmy" Burns, 80, of Smith Street, Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his home.

Born on May 13, 1938 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late George Burns and Mary Madge Bowers Burns.Mr. Burns was retired from the Hartwell Company and Gip's Manufacturing. He also was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Connie McCurley Burns; two daughters: Lynne B. Sewell of Athens and Janet B. Cleveland of Hartwell; two sisters: Margaret Craft (Pete) of Hartwell, Mary Montgomery (Jimmy) of Starr, SC; sister-in-law: Modena Fleming; three grandchildren: Jennifer Sewell, Tanner Cleveland (Taylor), Nolan Cleveland; one great grandchild: Olivia Cleveland and several special nieces and nephews also survive.Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.The family is at the home.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
