James Arthur "Jimmy" Goodwin, age 60, of Lavonia, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at his home following an extended illness.
Born April 5, 1951, in Royston, he was the son of the late William Charlie Goodwin and Frances "Frankie" (Chitwood) Goodwin. He was a bender technician and welder with Bosal Industries. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers: Steve Goodwin and Charles "Doody" Goodwin.
He is survived by his wife: Marie (Derrick) Goodwin of the home; daughter and son-in-law: Tonya and Michael Bass; sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Francine Goodwin and James and Tammy Goodwin; grandchildren: Joey Faith-Hope Goodwin, Logan Buford Goodwin, and Paige Goodwin; sisters: Juanita Sanders, Lynda Dove, Diane Long, and Doris Miller; and sister-in-law: Virginia King.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to defray funeral expenses.
