Mr. James H. "Jimmy" Moorhead, 78, of Liberty Hill Church Road, Hartwell, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Landmark Hospital, Athens.

Born on April 26, 1937 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Jim Smith Moorhead and Ruth Temple Moorhead.Mr. Moorhead was retired from Moore Paving Company, a member and past-master of the Philomathea Masonic Lodge # 25 in Elberton and Yaarab Shrine in Atlanta.He was also a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church and an U. S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Patricia Ann Doker Moorhead; a daughter: Karen Moorhead of Durham NC; three sons: James Todd Moorhead of Hartwell, Dean H. Bryson of Hartwell and Darryl A. Bryson & his wife Melanie of Iva SC; five grandchildren: Phillip Bell, Drew Bell, Jace Moorhead, Darian Bryson and Megan Hamby and two great-grandchildren: Peyten Hamby and Jacob Bell.Mr. Moorhead was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Timothy Harold Moorhead; three brothers: Dan Moorhead, Gene Moorhead and Robert Moorhead and a sister: Betty Foster.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ken Brewer officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Masonic rites.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the service. The family is at the home.
