Mr. J.L. Cartee, Sr., 72, of 38 Crumps Road, Hartwell, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at his home.

Born on November 21, 1938 in Anderson, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Sidney Cartee and Agnes Owen Cartee.He was a retired truck driver for Auto Zone of Lavonia and a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Ann C. Cartee of the home; two sons: Luther Cartee and his wife, Wanda, of Fair Play, SC, and Bruce Cartee of Hartwell; one brother: Randy Cartee of Hartwell; three grandchildren: Hollie West and her husband, Joe, Deanne Holbrook and her husband, Joe, and Jennifer Crowe; five great grandchildren; and is also survived by his beloved dog, Heidi.Mr. Cartee was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Jimmy Cartee and Merrill Cartee.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Tommy Cleveland, Rev. Ken Brewer, and Mr. Mitch Slaton officiating.Burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
