Mr. J.L. Herring, 82, of 236 Murray Ave., Hartwell, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at his home.
Born on March 25, 1929 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late J.C. Herring and Effie Feltman Herring.He was a retired BASF Quality Technician, a member of Milltown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and was a former Hartwell City Fireman.
Survivors include his wife: Robbie Sanders Herring of the home; two sons: Terry Herring and his wife, Pat, of Albemarle, NC, and Bobby Herring and his wife, Carol, of Greer, SC; one daughter: Wanda Goldsmith of Hartwell; four sisters: Dora H. Moore of Hartwell, Lillie Mae H. Wilson of Anderson, Betty H. Stone of Hartwell, and Barbara H. Jones of Hartwell; seven grandchildren: Christy Brown, Kelly Carey, Dustin Goldsmith, Brian Herring, Kevin Herring, Grant Herring & Neal Herring and nine great grandchildren: Dakota, Nolan, Sidney, Brice, Owen, Jacob, Jacelyn, Megan & Sarah also survive.Mr. Herring was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Sammy Herring and Jerry Herring; and one sister: Daisy Lee Reed.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Milltown Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Jones, Rev. Ken Brewer, and Rev. Ray Black officiating.Burial will follow in the Milltown Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday night.The family is at the home.
