Mrs. Jo Anderson Harris, 92, of Hartwell, GA, passed away Sunday evening, July 21, 2024.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Hartwell First Methodist Church, where she taught numerous Bible studies and served in multiple ministry roles. Her remarkable faith, love of Christ, and fervent prayer life best describe her. She organized the National Day of Prayer for Hartwell and the Back to School Prayer Walk for Hartwell Schools for many years. Her Monday Morning Bible Study, which she began over thirty years ago, has had a profound impact, with hundreds of women attending over the years.

Before moving to Hartwell, she worked in data processing at J.P. Stevens and Stone Manufacturing in Greenville SC. From 1976 until 1986, she was the owner and director of Happy World Day Care & After School Center in Simpsonville SC. Her last position was the Director of Program for Hartwell First Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter: Frankie Sherman (Wayland) of Laurens SC; a son: Hugh Anderson "Andy" Dill Sr (Kim A.) of Anderson; a stepdaughter: Kelly Viner (Larry); six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents: Hugh W. Anderson and Pauline Powers Anderson; her husband: Bruce Harris of Hartwell, and a sister: Sylvia Anderson "Bootsie" Spearman. of Greenville SC.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jo Harris will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hartwell First Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.  A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
