Mrs. Jo Ellen Johnson Kotal, 85, of Deer Run Lane, Canon, passed away at her home Saturday, December 4, 2021.

Jo Ellen was born on November 26, 1936 in Hartwell, GA to the late Joe Howard Johnson and Eliza Lou Harris Johnson. A lifelong resident of Hart County, she retired from Gips Manufacturing Company where she was an office manager for over forty years. She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on various church committees and capacities. Her greatest joy in life was her Lord, family, and friends.

Survivors include her two sons: Randy Kotal (Ginger) and Danny Kotal (Donna), all of Hartwell; two grandchildren: Bliss Kotal-Lee (Justin), Dillon Kotal (Deedra); and great grandchildren: Magnolia Bliss Lee, Dawson Lynnlee Kotal, Dani Jo Kotal, Baby Lee due April 2022 and Baby Dreyson James Kotal due May 2022. A special friend, Doug Harlin, and one she loved as a son, Norris Conwell (Sandra), also survive. Mrs. Kotal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Ronald Kotal; two brothers: Thomas Johnson and Paul Johnson; and one sister: Elizabeth Stowe.

Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on December 15, 2021 at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Jo Ellen Kotal will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Rafael Castaño and Deacon Barry Phillips officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 1009 Benson St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
