Jo Ellen Roe Brock, age 93 of Lavonia, GA, passed away February 4, 2018, at HHCC in Hartwell, Ga.
She was born February 3, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Fannie (Richey) Roe.She was preceded in death by her husband George W. Brock, her brothers Brooks Roe and Bernard Roe, and her sister, Janie Smallwood.Also preceding her in death were her children Wendell Brock, Peggy J. Brock and Kenneth Brock and her sons-in-law, Oliver Massey and Jerry Brock.
She was a lifelong resident of the Gumlog community in Lavonia, Georgia, and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.She was also a member of the Gumlog Women's Club.She was the elections Poll Manager in the Gumlog District for many years.She was retired and spent the last days of good health helping her friends and community.
Survivors include her daughters Jo Ann Massey and Shirlene Brock of Lavonia, Janice Ishikawa and husband, Keith, of Raleigh, NC, and her son, Randy Brock of Lavonia,Granddaughter raised in the home, Gwen Sherman of Newton,N.C. , and sister-in-law, Minnie Brock of Lavonia, GA.She is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great-grand children and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:Winfred Brock, Wayne Brock, William Brock, Tommy Voyles, Ricky Thomas & Ricky Whitworth.
Visitation will be held at Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family is at the home of Jo Ann Massey, 1239 Franklin County Boat Ramp Road, Lavonia, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
