Mrs. Jo Andrews Sumner, 84, formerly of Hartwell, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024 at Riverside Health Care, Covington GA

Born in March 26, 1940 in Atlanta GA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Sanford Andrews and Lillie Frances Cottongim Andrews.  Mrs. Sumner was a former Telephone Operator, Receptionist and Homemaker.  She was also a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons: Chip Sumner (Dawn) of Locust Grove GA, Robert Sumner of Thomaston GA and Andy Sumner (Angie) of Newnan GA; seven grandchildren: Chase Sumner, Jessie Sumner, Aaron Sumner, Katie Stinchcomb (Jonathan), Jolee Sumner, Logan Sumner and Ethan Sumner and two great-grandsons: Alex & Ryker Stinchcomb.  Mrs. Sumner was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin Lee Sumner; two brothers: Bob Andrews and John Andrews and a sister: Marie Powell.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 26, 2024 from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jo Sumner will be Friday, July 26, 2024 at 1:00 at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Statham officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
