Mrs. Joann Brown Lawson, 77, of Lynhart Drive, Hartwell, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Heardmont Nursing Center, Elberton.

Born on February 20, 1937 in Detroit MI, she was the daughter of the late Ford McRee Brown and Geneva Daniel Brown.

Survivors include two daughters: Sandra L. Ray and Rebecca L. Carruth both of Hartwell; a son: Darryl M. Lawson of Alabama; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John Fred Lawson Jr; a brother: Doyle Brown and a grandchild.

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Todd London officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
