Mr. Joseph S. "Joe" Brandeburg Jr., 82, of Smith Street, Hartwell, died Saturday, February 07, 2015 at his home.

Born on July 12, 1932 in Brooklyn NY, he was the son of the late Joseph S. Brandeburg Sr. and Amalia Cacaia Brandeburg.Mr. Brandeburg retired from Local #25 IBEW after 55 years of service and General Motors after 12 years of service.He was a former hospital volunteer at Gwinnett Medical Center.Mr. Brandeburg was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, formed the Heritage Committee and helped compile the last three church directories.

Mr. Brandeburg is survived by his wife: Helen Corrado Brandeburg; a son: Joseph S. Brandeburg III & Michele of Hoschston GA; two daughters: Pat Kellum & Tim of Bowman and Dr. Kathy Millets & Ken of Dacula GA; two grandchildren: Christian Millets and Anthony R. Brandeburg also survive.Mr. Brandeburg was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Steven Brandeburg and George Brandeburg and a sister: Phyllis Roethel.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.Mr. Brandeburg wished to be cremated after the Funeral Mass and his ashes placed in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Memorial Garden at a later date.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell GA 30643 or to the charity of one's choice.
