Mr. Joe Marion Motes, 75, of Thermon Adams Road, Dewy Rose, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at his home.

Born on September 12, 1940 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Early Nicholas Motes and Pauline Dickerson Motes.Mr. Motes was a retired machine operator with the Hart County Road Department and a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Lucy McGee Motes; one son: Greg Motes of Dewy Rose; two brothers: Denver Motes and his wife Carol of Royston, Wayne Motes and his wife Joyce of Dalton; one sister: Peggy McGee and her husband Robert of Dewy Rose; one step-granddaughter: Katie Bloodworth of Alpharetta and one step-great grandson: Landon Bloodworth. Mr. Moteswas preceded in death by his parents; and one son: Jason Motes.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethesda United Methodist Church, 352 Bethesda Church Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
