Mr. Joe W. Seawright, 91, Laurel Drive, Hartwell, died Thursday February 6, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson SC.

Born on March 6, 1922 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Jim Seawright and Naomi Frye Seawright.Mr. Seawright was a former Clerk for the Hartwell Post Office and retired as Postmaster.He was a US Navy WWII veteran serving in the Pacific Theater.He was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Wallace White SS Class, United Methodist Men and a greeter. He was a member of the American Legion Post 109.

Survivors include sons, Tom Seawright of Hartwell and David Seawright of Carlton, GA. two daughters, Pat Moorhead of Hartwell and Mary Helen Denham of Watkinsville, GA; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Mr. Seawright was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Sorrells Seawright, one sister Mildred S. Glenn and one son-in-law Billy Moorhead.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. Allen Stewart officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church Youth, 200 East Howell Street, Hartwell, GA.30643.
