Mr. Joseph Steven "Joe" Smith Jr, 36, of Elberton, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton.

Born on September 15, 1983 in Toccoa, GA, he was the son of Pamela L. Bond Chandler.Mr. Smith was a CDL driver for Werner Trucking and was of the Baptist Faith. Joe was also a US Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 5456 in Elberton.

Survivors include his mother: Pamela L. Bond Chandler of Eastanollee, GA; wife: Candace Montgomery Smith of Elberton; four children: Trey Smith of Mt. Airy, GA, Faye Carlan of Elberton, Caleb Carlan of Elberton, and Peyton Smith of Clermont, GA; and several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. At other times the family will be at the home.

A Celebration of Joe's life will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 4:00 in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Mark Dixon officiating. Joe wished to be cremated following the service.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
