Mr. Joe F. Weaver, 93, of Bode Weaver Road, Hartwell, died Friday, January 3, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson SC.

Born on May 13, 1920 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late James Bode Weaver Sr. and Lula Hilley Weaver.Mr. Weaver was retired from Monroe Automotive Equipment and a lifelong member of the Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men's SS Class and Joy Club, a former Deacon and took care of the Cemetery Maintenance for a number of years.Mr. Weaver was a WW II US Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife, Winona Harris Weaver; a son, Danny J. Weaver and his wife Gail of Hartwell; two daughters, Jean Windsor & her husband Carlton of Lavonia and Pam Spence & her husband Clinton of Durham NC; a brother, J.B. Weaver Jr. of Watkinsville; a sister, Josephine Bannister of Carrollton; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William Weaver, Frank Weaver, Thomas Weaver and Clinton Weaver; a sister, Mozelle Barnett Vickery and a great-grandchild, Tyrus Bode Weaver.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Durham, Rev. Clinton Spence and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Military honors.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m... The family is at the home. Flowers optional, special memorials may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church, 2085 Bethany-Bowersville Road, Canon GA 30520.
