Mr. Joe Lynn Williams, Sr., age 85 of 216 Gilmer St. Lavonia, Ga., died Monday, April 2, 2007 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born January 3, 1922 in Hart County Georgia, he was the son of the late Walter Leonard and Bonnie Brown Williams. He worked in the textile industry for 37 years and retired from Sibley Mills as plant manager. Mr. Williams was a veteran of WW II where he served as a pilot in the Army Air Corp, he was a 1943 graduate of Wofford College a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Williams, sons, Joe "Lynn" Williams, Jr. of Englewood Colorado and Mike Williams of Canon, a daughter, Susan Miles of Apple Valley, MN. Four grandchildren, Cody & Conner Williams and Jesse & Sarah Miles also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Richard Bielski officiating. Interment will be in the Bowersville City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.
The family is at the home and will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
