Mr. Joel Grady Saxon, 74, of 626 Airline School Road, Bowersville, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born on October 31, 1938 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late George Grady Saxon and Elizabeth Ford Saxon.He was the owner/operator of Saxon Electric Company for 47 years. Joel was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, chairman of the maintenance committee, and a member of the Men's III Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Airline Coffee Club and served in the Georgia National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Johnson Saxon of the home; two daughters: Connie Stovall and her husband Wayne of Cumming, GA, Sharon Cain and her husband Eddie of Bowersville; one son, Alan Saxon and his wife Marilyn of Anderson, SC; one brother, Larry Saxon and his wife Peggy of Dewy Rose; two sisters: Betty Hornick and her husband Herb of Hartwell, and Linda Saxon of Hartwell; four grandchildren: Alex Stovall, Austin Stovall, AJ Cain, and Caitlin Char also survive. Mr. Saxon was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Durham and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night. The family is at the home.
