Mr. John W. "J.W." Adams, 86, of Beacon Light Road, Hartwell, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Hart Care Center, Hartwell.

Born on February 12, 1931 in Anderson SC, he was the son of the late Knox Adams and Ina Estelle Scott Adams.Mr. Adams was a retired commercial contractor, former member of the Royston BASS Club, Savannah Valley BASS Club and was a charter member of the Hartwell BASS Club.He was also a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

Survivors include his children: Johnny Adams and his wife Gayle of Hartwell, Bobby Adams of Piedmont SC, Gwen Adams Dunmoyer of Iva SC and Charles Watson and his wife Cheryl of Bowman; a brother: Donnie Ray Adams of Iva SC; three sisters: Elease Pickens of Charleston SC, Linda Durham of Saluda SC and Penny Cann of Iva SC; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Howard Adams and David "Bo" Adams; his companion for many years: Annie Mae Patat Adams and her son: Lloyd Watson.

A visitation for friends and family to celebrate J.W.'s life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Mr. Adams will be cremated following the visitation.In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to support the Hart County Anglers Club and sent to the Hartwell BASS Club, C/O of Johnny Brannon, 334 Watsadler Road, Hartwell GA 30643
