Mr. John Doroshenko, Jr, 94, of Hartwell, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born on September 26, 1923 in Struthers, Ohio. He was the son of the late John Doroshenko, Sr and Justina Stecewycz Doroshenko. Mr. Doroshenko, along with his wife, Lillian, moved from Miami, FL to their home on Hartwell Lake in 1984, after retiring as a carpenter with Eastern Air Lines. He was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hartwell.He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and proudly served his country in the 388th Bomb Group (B-17) stationed in Knettishall, England.
Survivors include two sons: Neil Doroshenko and his wife Polly of High Point, NC, Joel Doroshenko and his wife Diane of Lake City, FL; five grandchildren: Luke Doroshenko (Ginny), Lisa Doroshenko, Linsey Doroshenko, Krista Nance (Jordan), Justin Doroshenko; five great-grandchildren: Pax, Mia and Vera Doroshenko, Zack and Henry Nance. Mr. Doroshenko was preceded in death by his wife: Lillian Solberg Doroshenko; two brothers: Eugene Lyren, Walter Lychako; two sisters: Mary Repasky and Jenny Doroshenko.
A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday April 14, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church with Dr. Rev. Matt Cawthorn officiating.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
