Obituary
Mr. John Fred Cleveland, 59, of Hartwell, died Sunday, February 16, 2014.
Born on October 9, 1954 in Anderson SC, he was the son of the late Charles Roy Cleveland and Hazel Barwick Cleveland.Mr. Cleveland received an undergraduate degree from North Georgia College, a Master degree from University of Georgia and a Specialist degree from Clemson University.Mr. Cleveland was a former Coach, Teacher, Principal and served as Hart County School Superintendent.He also was an Instructor of Tae Kwon Do.Mr. Cleveland was formerly employed with The University of Georgia Police Department and GEMA.He was a member of the Hart County Retired Teachers Association and the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Bagwell Cleveland; a sister, Cecile Whiten of Carrollton and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Black officiating.The family will receive friends after the service in the church. Special memorials may be made to the John F. Cleveland Memorial Scholarship fund C/O Athens First Bank & Trust, PO Box 767, Hartwell GA30643.
