Mr. John Harvin Gantt Jr, 86, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at his home.

Born on November 3, 1938 in St. Petersburg FL, he was the son of the late John Harvin Gantt Sr. and Effie Louise Swafford Gantt.  Mr. Gantt was retired owner/operator of Gantt Graphics Inc. He loved flying and was a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight Soars.  Mr. Gantt was a member of the Hartwell Golf Club and enjoyed living on Lake Hartwell.  He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell and the Hubert Milford SS Class.

Survivors include his wife: Judy H. Gantt; two sons: Michael Gantt of Douglasville GA and Tom Shumaker (Wendy) of Marietta GA; a daughter: Dottie Nash of Cumming GA; a brother: David Gantt of Tallahassee FL; a sister: Pam Weil of Longwood FL; four grandchildren: Leslie Weston (MSGT Brad), Lance Wright (Amy Jo), Brandi Chambers and Melissa Hunter (Logan) and four great-grandchildren: Olivia Best, Rilla Best, Deacon Wright and Braxton Wright also survive.  Mr. Gantt was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Billy Gantt and a sister: Sherry Phelps.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Mr. Gantt wished to be cremated and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. Stuart Lang officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
