Mr. John Robert Hamby, 72, of Athens, formerly of Lavonia, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born November 6, 1944, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Glenn Hamby and Lois Estelle (Blackmon) Bryant. He was of the Church of God faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Betty Powell. He is survived by his sister: JoAnn Greenway; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
