John Chandler Hampton, age 86, of Atlanta, Georgia, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 from Alzheimer's.

Born on July 8, 1928 in Atlanta, he was the son of Montine and George Hampton, and he was married to Sarah Helen Mann Hampton from Hartwell, who passed away on September 23, 2007. They were married for over 60 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Hampton of Friendswood, Texas; Brenda Hampton of Los Angeles, California; and his son, Rick Hampton of Hartwell; and two sisters, Joyce Hampton and Charlotte Beals. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Carl Hampton, Sydney Hampton and Andrew Hampton, and a sister, Willadene Hampton. He also has five grandsons, David Carter, Jeff Carter, Michael Hampton, Daniel Bui and Tsegaye Bui; and he has two granddaughters, Kate Hedges and Zoe Hampton; as well as six great grandchildren.

The body will be placed for viewing at Bio Baptist Church Wednesday, March 18 at 2 p.m. Funeral services will follow at Bio Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Zaboroskie and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating at 4:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Bio Baptist Church Cemetery.
