Obituary
Mr. John William Harper, 85, of 537 Holly Hills Drive, Hartwell, GA, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at his home.
Born May 5, 1922 in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late William Sherwood Harper and Sarah Louise Callaway Harper.He was retired from the paint department at General Motors in Wilmington, Delaware.He was a WWII U.S. Marine Corp Veteran.
He is survived by sons: Bruce William Harper of Kenton DE, John Douglas Harper of Hartwell GA; Daughters, JoAnn Patterson of Hartwell GA and Linda Ryan-Harper of Hartwell GA; 13 grandchildren: Paula Sanders, Valerie Stover, Stephen Patterson, Daniel Patterson, Sherry Soderquist, Timothy Harper, Christopher J. Harper, Clifford Stevens, Christian Stevens, Sarah Stevens, John S. Harper, David Hilton and Dustin Harper and 25 great grandchildren also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Eleanor Virginia Ryan Harper.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Church of God Cemetery.Rev. J.B. Kitts will officiate.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Friday from 12 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
