Mr. John M. "Johnny" Wilson, 81, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his home.

Born on July 27, 1938 in Tucker, GA, he was the son of the late John Andrew Wilson and Bertha Montine Welborn Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a self-employed grading contractor and a member of the Bio Baptist Church. He was also a member of the North Georgia Fox Hunters Association and an avid supporter of the Hart Co. FFA. Johnny loved working on his farm, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include his wife: Carole Gunnin Wilson; five children: Nancy Hix (Tom) of Hartwell, Lisa Bucksot (Jeff) of Toccoa, John James Wilson (Joyce) of Hartwell, Linda Pierce (Mike) of Hartwell, Kathi Jo Vaughn (Johnny) of Hartwell; a sister: Mary Johnson of Decatur, GA; fifteen grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. Mr. Wilson preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Ralph Wilson, David Wilson, Amos Wilson, Joe Wilson, Robert Wilson; and six sisters: Ina Greer, Earline Bridges, Mildred Wilson, Margaret Milford, Louise Buice, and Hazel Cofer.

Because of the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation.They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.

Johnny will lie in state at the Strickland Funeral of Hartwell from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday for anyone to come by and pay their respects.Also anyone can leave their condolences and best wishes on Johnny's tribute page.

Graveside services for Mr. Johnny Wilson will be held Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bio Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Troy Ayers and Rev. Dale Zaboroskie officiating.Everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing and may want to bring a lawn chair.
