Mr. John Robert Sewell, age 58, of Martin, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born March 19, 1954, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Hubert and Jackie (Bradley) Sewell. He worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Sewell was a proud member of the Harley Davidson Owner's Group.
He is survived by his wife: Sherry (Chappell) Sewell of the home; step-daughter: Elizabeth Woody of Canon; step-daughter and son-in-law: Jenn & Tommy Schie of Sugar Hill; grandson: Dylan Woody of Canon; sister: Barbara Ruth Sewell of Lavonia; father & mother-in-law: Donald & Sara Chappell of Canon; and sisters-in-law: Linda Brooks and her husband Stanley of Royston and Debbie Richey and her husband Ron of Baldwin. He is also survived by his special motorcycle family: The Shade Tree Warriors.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Eldon Massey and Rev. Roger Hardy officiating. A private burial will follow in Bowers Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to assist with rehabilitation to Sherry Sewell, P.O.
