Obituary
John Griffin Stith Jr., 71, of Lavonia GA died Friday Aug. 14, 2009 at his home. Born Feb. 4, 1938 in Atlanta GA, he was the only son of John Griffin Stith Sr. and Lillie Mae (Cole) Stith. He attended Georgia Military Academy and graduated Russell High (1956) and the University of Arizona (BS, MS). A member of the Army Reserves, he worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Georgia for more
than 40 years.
John is survived by his daughter Paige, her husband Richard Ziehler-Martin and their children Kayleigh and Rory, his daughter Jennifer and her husband Tom Lockhart, and his son John Griffin Stith III and his wife Sandi. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home,Dr. Larry Finger presiding. Memorials may be made to C.A.S.T. For Kids Foundation, a fishing charity for disabled and disadvantaged children.
